Custom Home Furnishing Services
At River & Bord, we craft heirloom-quality furniture tailored to your taste and lifestyle. Every piece is handcrafted in North Carolina, using durable upholstery and time-tested techniques that have been passed down for generations. From custom sectionals to designer chairs, our service is built around thoughtful design, premium materials, and dependable delivery. You’ll enjoy furniture that not only looks beautiful but holds up to real life—kids, pets, and all. Whether you’re furnishing your new home or curating a space for a client, our team is here to help you build something that lasts.
Custom Sofas
A sofa should reflect your home’s personality—and hold up to everyday use. Our custom sofas are handcrafted in North Carolina using kiln-dried hardwood frames, select performance fabrics, and expert upholstery methods. You’ll choose your ideal size, depth, configuration, fabric, and cushion fill to ensure the end result fits your space and comfort preferences. From classic English rolled arms to clean-lined mid-century profiles, your custom sofa will feel intentional, durable, and made for real living. We believe it’s about creating a dependable gathering place for your family for years to come.
Custom Sectionals
Our custom sectionals are designed for flexibility and comfort. Whether you’re outfitting a large family room or an open-concept living space, our modular sectionals offer seating solutions that fit your layout and lifestyle. You’ll choose from our layout configurations, cushion options, and upholstery styles—all built to order by our skilled craftsmen. The result? A sectional that was made specifically for you, offering room for everyone, that stands up to daily use without losing its shape. This is furniture that works as hard as you do, without sacrificing beauty or comfort.
Custom Chairs
Accent your space with custom chairs that feel as good as they look. From comfortable lounge chairs to tailored accent chairs, River & Bord offers seating solutions that complement your sofa while standing strong on their own. Our chairs are built with the same commitment to quality as our larger pieces—sustainable frames, hand-applied finishes, and select performance fabrics that resist stains and pilling. Whether you’re shopping for a reading nook, guest seating, or a pair of statement chairs for your living room, you’ll get timeless design, reliable comfort, and craftsmanship that holds up year after year.
American-Made Furniture
Choosing River & Bord means supporting a proud tradition of North Carolina furniture-making. Since 1930, our family-owned company has produced quality upholstered furniture that’s built to last—right here in the U.S. Every stitch, frame, and cushion is made by skilled local artisans who care deeply about the product they’re creating. Buying American-made means shorter lead times, better customer support, and quality you can feel. You’re not just getting a sofa; you’re choosing something thoughtfully made, built to last, and designed with integrity.
Designer & Trade Services
Interior designers and industry professionals choose River & Bord because we deliver consistency, flexibility, and service that supports your workflow. We offer COM (Customer’s Own Material), tailored lead times, and dedicated designer support to help you meet your project deadlines. Rooted in and Guided by Christian Values
Our commitment to craftsmanship goes hand-in-hand with our commitment to faith. As a family-founded company rooted in Christian values—honesty, service, stewardship, and sharing Christ’s love—we let these principles guide the way we run our business and care for our customers.
It’s why we stand behind our work and pour intention into every piece we build. We believe our work should honor God and be a blessing to others.
To us, creating custom furniture isn’t just about style—it’s about building something lasting that blesses families for generations and ultimately glorifies God. We see our craft as a way to serve others and make a small but meaningful impact in His Kingdom.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to receive my custom furniture?
Most orders ship within 6–8 weeks. Because we build each piece to order, we’re able to keep timelines shorter than many other custom manufacturers. You’ll also get regular updates from our team along the way.
Can I choose my own fabric?
Yes. You can choose from our curated performance and designer fabrics. We’re happy to help guide you through the selection process based on your style and needs.
Is River & Bord furniture kid- and pet-friendly?
Absolutely. Many of our fabrics are stain-resistant and easy to clean. If you let us know your household needs, we can recommend the most durable options for daily use.
What if I’m not sure which style fits my space?
Our design team is happy to help. We can guide you through arm styles, cushion fills, and sizes to ensure the piece fits your home or your client’s layout perfectly.
Do you ship outside North Carolina?
Yes—we ship to the Continental United States. Our customers are able to choose from our front door delivery or upgrade to our white glove delivery option.
“Why would I want these custom upholstered furniture services?
You deserve furniture that fits your home, your life, and holds up over time. Too often, off-the-shelf pieces fall short. At River & Bord, we make it simple to get a sofa or chair that feels right—made just for you, and made to last.
What sets us apart? Shorter lead times, performance fabric options, tailored design support, and the kind of craftsmanship you can feel. We don’t just sell you a sofa. We build the one that belongs in your home.
