1. What furniture products do you make?
We design and build custom sofas, sectionals, chairs, ottomans, and pillows. Every piece is handcrafted to order using durable upholstery and premium materials. You’ll find styles ranging from classic and transitional to mid-century modern and vintage-inspired.
2. Can I customize the size, fabric, or trim?
Yes. Most of our items from River & Bord are fully customizable. You can select from a wide range of performance fabrics, wood finishes, cushion fills, trims, and sizes to match your space and style.
3. Do you offer performance or stain-resistant fabrics?
Absolutely. We offer a thoughtfully curated selection of high-performance fabrics ideal for busy households, kids, pets, or high-use areas.
4. Are your products made in North Carolina?
Yes. All of our furniture is handcrafted by artisans in North Carolina, where our company has roots dating back to 1930. We’re proud to carry on the legacy of quality furniture making.
5. How long does it take to receive a custom piece?
Most orders are crafted and shipped within 6–8 weeks. Lead times may vary slightly depending on fabric availability or design complexity. We’ll provide updates along the way so you’re never left guessing.
6. Do you ship throughout the United States?
Yes. We offer nationwide shipping within the continental U.S. Every piece is carefully packaged and transported with care. We offer two delivery options: white-glove service for in-home placement and unpacking, and front-door delivery for a convenient, contactless experience.
7. What is white-glove delivery?
White-glove delivery includes setup in your home, light assembly if needed, and cleanup of all packaging. It covers delivery up one interior flight of stairs and is available as an upgrade at checkout.
8. Do you work with interior designers?
Yes, we love working with designers. River & Bord offers a designer trade program with exclusive pricing, fabric swatches, and dedicated support to help you furnish multiple projects with ease.
9. Can I order fabric samples?
Yes. We encourage clients to order complimentary swatches before making a final decision. Seeing and feeling fabric in your home’s lighting is a helpful part of the design process. It’s also important to note that colors shown in renderings or reference images can sometimes look different from the final piece due to variations in screen settings and display types.
10. What’s the difference between a couch and a sofa?
Sofa, couch—tomato, tomahto. Some say one feels fancier than the other, but at River & Bord, we see them the same way: as the perfect place to unwind. We strive to craft something you’ll fall in love with, no matter what you call it.
11. Do you offer sectionals for small spaces?
Yes. Our custom sectional sofas can be tailored for apartments, townhomes, or open-concept homes. You choose from a variety of configuration, dimensions, and layout that works best.
12. How do I care for my custom upholstered furniture?
We recommend vacuuming weekly with a soft brush attachment and spot-cleaning with mild soap and water. For deep cleans, consult the care instructions provided with your fabric or contact our team for guidance.
13. Do you offer warranties?
Yes. All River & Bord frames carry a limited lifetime warranty. Cushion cores and upholstery are backed by industry-standard warranties, and we’re always here to help with concerns post-purchase.
14. Can I return or cancel a custom order?
Because each piece is made to order, we cannot accept returns or cancellations once production begins. However, our team will walk you through every detail before placing your order to make sure you’re confident in your selections.
